Code Red: Teahupo’s Heaviest Day

Billabong’s “Code Red,” showcases the monster swell that occurred on August 27th, 2011. On that day, the Billabong Pro Tahiti was forced to call a lay day…as a result of the gluttonous waves breaking over the shallow reef at Teahupo. Despite the Tahitian Coast Gaurd’s “Code Red” advisory, some of the world’s greatest big-wave surfers scrambled to the island…to jump in the water, and charge some of the heaviest barrels ever surfed.
